Similarities to a regular WMA study group
- Assignments – the participant reads and studies the same assigned portion of the text before participating in the class
- Learning objectives and activities – the participant works toward the same basic learning objectives and activities
- Supervision – the participant is supervised and guided by a trained facilitator
Differences from a regular WMA study group
- Broader geographical base – online participants may come from different countries and even different continents, enriching the course with their different perspectives, outlooks and general life experiences
- More intensive – online courses usually are taught in a more intensive way, with the participant investing approximately five to six hours per week, for four to twelve weeks
- Interaction – online interaction occurs in forums, where participants post their own observations about the topic under consideration, and read and interact with the observations posted by the other participants
